Strangers Project

Strangers Project is a portrait series made in Malta during May 2026, the month of Malta’s election. I approached people I did not know, photographed them, and asked a simple question: “How are you feeling right now?” The project is inspired by Gillian Wearing’s 1990s Britain series, Signs that Say What You Want Them To Say and Not Signs that Say What Someone Else Wants You To Say, where strangers shared private thoughts in a public space. In Malta, at a time of local political reflection and wider global unrest, the question opened brief conversations about hope, loss, accomplishment, desire, and uncertainty. The series records fragments of thought and moments of trust between two strangers.
