Overland

Between 2005 and 2007, I spent two years travelling overland across Asia with a camera and very little else. I was young, curious, and open to the world in a way that this kind of travel allowed. It marked the start of photography as a serious part of my life: my first digital camera and my first sustained attempt to record what I was seeing rather than pass through it.

These were the years before mass tourism reshaped much of the continent and before smartphones made places instantly legible. The places I travelled through still felt unfamiliar. The images reflect that. They are open, searching, and made by someone still learning what drew their attention.

Overland is a selection from a body of work made across multiple countries during two years of slow travel. It is not organised by location, but by the movement of the journey itself. It records a world as I encountered it.
